January 2008 - pictures shot with a PENTAX K20D and comparison with K10D: Most pictures below are converted from DNG files, showing maximum possible noise (both brightness and color noise corrections have been zeroed, except two pictures as reported). Then, be aware that they don't have unsharp mask applied: please apply it at your leisure. Pictures at 3200 and 6400 ISO have been shot handheld and full aperture or so (hence not everything is in focus) either indoor with tungsten lighting or outdoor at night.

Update: DRE (Dynamic Range Enlargement) One of the most interesting new features of the K20D is the DRE, also affecting RAW files. See below how the pictures show up when applying Auto optimization to RAW shots during conversion. Red areas are washed-out highlights, while blue areas are unresolved shadows. The histograms also help understanding the pictures. The advantage is well visible and needs no further explanation.
